Here's What St. Regan Murphy -CHOMOLHARI YAKSA 14 Days Trekking Experience
I recently completed a 14-day trekking experience in Bhutan organized by the Sherpa Trekking Company. Bhutan is truly an enchanting place and the Chomolhari Yaksa trek was everything I could have wished for in a trekking experience!
The trek started at the Drugyel Dzong in the Paro Valley with a warm, welcoming greeting from the Sherpa Trekking Company crew. They provided us with all the trekking gear and supplies needed for the journey which made the journey so much easier.
The first stop on the trek was the village of Laya, which was easily one of the highlights of the trip. There we encountered the local people, who were incredibly friendly and hospitable. They welcomed us into their homes and demonstrated various traditional practices that I had never seen before. I also had the chance to explore the landscape and take in breathtaking views of the distant Chomolhari mountain range.
The trek continued from Laya, taking us high into the mountain passes and over snowcapped glaciers. Every night we stayed in comfortable campsites, each with its own unique character and scenery. We trekked across steep ridges, crossed raging rivers, and got lost in surreal landscape of Bhutan.
On our last night, we camped above the tree line at an elevation of 4,730 meters, which was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Most of the group fell asleep looking up at a star-filled sky on top of the world.
The trek was an unforgettable adventure from start to finish. I am beyond grateful to the Sherpa Trekking Company for the unforgettable experience that I was fortunate enough to experience with them. If you are looking for a trekking experience that has plenty of adventure and beauty, I strongly recommend the Chomolhari Yaksa trek.
